Overview
Watamu Marine National Park and Reserve, established in 1968, is one of Kenya’s oldest and most prestigious marine protected areas.Located approximately 140 kilometers north of Mombasa and 28 kilometers south of Malindi, the park covers about 10 square kilometers, while the surrounding reserve encompasses a much larger area, including the ecologically vital Mida Creek.The park is globally recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a designation reflecting its immense biodiversity and the critical importance of its coral reef systems, seagrass beds, and mangrove forests
