Overview
Day 1: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
- Morning: Depart Nairobi early (7:00 AM) to beat traffic. Drive north through the lush coffee plantations of Thika.
- Afternoon: Arrive at Sweetwaters Tented Camp in time for lunch.
- Late Afternoon: Game drive in Ol Pejeta. Visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and the Rhino Information Center. Ol Pejeta is the best place in Kenya to see both Black and White Rhinos.
- Overnight: Sweetwaters Tented Camp.
Day 2: Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru National Park
- Morning: Early breakfast and a final game drive as you exit the conservancy. Drive toward the Great Rift Valley.
- Afternoon: Arrive at Sarova Woodlands in Nakuru. After lunch, head into the park.
- Late Afternoon: Game drive around the lake shores. Look for flamingos, pelicans, and the rare Rothschild giraffe. Nakuru is also a sanctuary for both Black and White rhinos.
- Overnight: Sarova Woodlands.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve
- Morning: Depart Nakuru for the Masai Mara. The drive takes you through the scenic Rift Valley escarpment.
- Afternoon: Arrive at Talek Bush Camp for lunch.
- Late Afternoon: Your first game drive in the Mara. The Talek area is famous for its high density of lions and leopards.
- Overnight: Talek Bush Camp.
Day 4: Full Day in Masai Mara
- Morning/Afternoon: Full-day game drive with a picnic lunch in the bush. Explore the Mara River (famous for the Great Migration crossings) and the vast plains where cheetahs and lions hunt.
- Optional: Visit a traditional Maasai Village to learn about their culture.
- Overnight: Talek Bush Camp.
Day 5: Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha
- Morning: Final morning game drive in the Mara. Depart for Naivasha.
- Afternoon: Arrive at Sawela Lodge for a late lunch.
- Late Afternoon: Relax by the lake or take a boat ride to Crescent Island, where you can walk among giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest (no predators on the island).
- Overnight: Sawela Lodge.
Day 6: Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park
- Morning: Early departure for the long drive to Amboseli. You will pass through Nairobi and head toward the Tanzanian border.
- Afternoon: Arrive at Oilepo Camp in time for a late lunch.
- Late Afternoon: Afternoon game drive. Amboseli is famous for its massive elephant herds and the iconic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Overnight: Oilepo Camp.
Day 7: Full Day in Amboseli
- Morning: Early morning game drive to catch the best views of Mt. Kilimanjaro before the clouds roll in.
- Afternoon: Visit the Observation Hill for a panoramic view of the entire park. Spend the afternoon tracking elephants and observing the diverse birdlife in the swamps.
- Overnight: Oilepo Camp.
Day 8: Amboseli to Nairobi
- Morning: Enjoy a final breakfast with a view of the mountain. Take a short morning game drive as you exit the park.
- Afternoon: Drive back to Nairobi. Stop at a curio shop for souvenirs or have a farewell lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant before your flight or hotel drop-off.
Travel Tips for your Guests:
- Packing: Bring layers. Ol Pejeta and Nakuru can be chilly in the early mornings, while the Mara and Amboseli get quite hot by midday.
- Hydration: Always carry bottled water in the vehicle.
- Photography: Bring a camera with a good zoom lens (at least 300mm) and extra memory cards.
- Connectivity: Most lodges have Wi-Fi, but it can be spotty in the remote areas of the Mara and Amboseli.
