Detailed 7-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve Travelers depart Nairobi, stopping at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to observe the escarpment. The drive continues to the Maasai Mara, arriving for lunch and an afternoon game drive. The Mara is characterized by rolling grasslands and acacia woodlands, supporting one of the highest concentrations of predators in Africa.

Day 2: Full Day in Maasai Mara A full day is dedicated to exploring the reserve. Key highlights include the Mara River, famous for crocodile-infested crossings during the wildebeest migration. The reserve is home to over 450 species of birds and the “Big Five.” Optional activities often include a hot air balloon safari at dawn to view the plains from above.

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park After an early breakfast and an optional visit to a Maasai village to learn about pastoralist culture, the tour proceeds to Lake Nakuru. This park is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site and serves as a sanctuary for both black and white rhinoceroses.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha Following a morning game drive in Nakuru—noted for its leopard sightings and Rothschild giraffes—the journey moves to Lake Naivasha. Unlike Nakuru, Naivasha is a freshwater lake. Activities here typically include a boat safari to view hippos and African fish eagles, followed by a visit to Crescent Island for a walking safari.

Day 5: Hell’s Gate National Park to Amboseli National Park Morning exploration of Hell’s Gate National Park allows for cycling or walking among zebras and giraffes, as the park lacks large predators. The landscape is defined by the Fischer’s Tower and the Central Tower columns. In the afternoon, the tour drives toward Amboseli, arriving in the evening.

Day 6: Full Day in Amboseli National Park Amboseli is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants. The park’s backdrop is dominated by Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world (5,895 meters). Game drives focus on the swamps where elephants and hippos congregate.

Day 7: Amboseli to Nairobi A final early morning game drive offers the best chance to see Kilimanjaro’s peak before clouds set in. After breakfast, the tour returns to Nairobi, concluding the circuit
