Overview

The parks selected for this safari represent distinct African biomes. The Masai Mara is a savannah-woodland mosaic, critical for the survival of the “Big Five” (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino).Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha represent the Rift Valley’s lacustrine systems; Nakuru’s alkaline waters support specialized algae that historically attracted millions of flamingos, while Naivasha’s freshwater supports yellow-fever acacia forests. Amboseli provides a unique “rain shadow” ecosystem where the presence of water is entirely dependent on the volcanic massif of Kilimanjaro

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve The journey commences with a departure from Nairobi, descending the eastern escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. This geological phenomenon, stretching from Jordan to Mozambique, provides a dramatic backdrop at the “View Point.” Travelers arrive at the Masai Mara Sopa Lodge for lunch. The afternoon is dedicated to an introductory game drive in the Mara, a northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem known for its high concentration of apex predators, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara A full day is spent exploring the rolling grasslands. Depending on the season (specifically July to October), visitors may witness the Great Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. The day includes a picnic lunch near the river, home to large pods of hippopotami and Nile crocodiles. The Masai Mara is widely regarded in academic literature as the “world’s premier game viewing destination” due to its year-round resident wildlife.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park After an early morning game drive and breakfast, the safari heads north to Lake Nakuru. This park is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site and a RAMSAR wetland of international importance. It serves as a critical sanctuary for the endangered Rhinoceros (both Black and White species) and the Rothschild giraffe. Overnight stay is at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha Following a morning game drive in Nakuru, the tour proceeds to Lake Naivasha, the highest of the Rift Valley lakes. Unlike Nakuru, Naivasha is a freshwater lake, supporting a different ecological niche. The afternoon is spent at the Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge, with optional boat rides to observe the prolific birdlife and hippos.

Day 5: Hell’s Gate National Park to Amboseli National Park The morning is dedicated to Hell’s Gate National Park, unique for allowing walking or cycling safaris amidst zebras and giraffes due to the absence of large predators.Travelers explore the obsidian caves and the lower gorge. After lunch, the journey continues south toward Amboseli National Park, arriving in the evening at Amboseli Sopa Lodge.

Day 6: Full Day in Amboseli National Park Amboseli is world-renowned for its “Jumbo” elephants and the iconic view of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. The park’s swamps, fed by underground meltwater from the mountain, attract a high density of wildlife during the dry season.

Day 7: Amboseli to Nairobi A final early morning game drive offers the best chance to see the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro before cloud cover sets in. After breakfast, the group departs for Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon for drop-off at the airport or hotel
